ERICKSON 4th of July Weekend Festivities...

I love the 4th of July...It is mine and Tommy's favorite holiday. I love when all of the family gets together for the entire weekend and enjoy activities such as: BBQ's, Swimming, Fireworks, Games and Sleepovers!
It was such a great weekend starting with Rob, Linz, Zoie, and Ava coming into town. It was then on like Donkey Kong with the festivities.

Friday:
Most of my siblings and their kids went to dinner at Spaghetti Factory. We had to be put in our own room because our family is so BIG and we are LOUD people. Everything was going great, the kids were eating so well and Ava was sitting on my lap finishing her dinner. She says to me "Ya Ya, I'm full," I said let's ask mom what see she says. The next thing I know is Ava is throwing up all over in her food and down the front of her. The smell for a pregnant girl was kind of rough considering my own gag reflux that I struggle with. (Sorry for the graphic details) We were able to clean it up and clean Ava up with a change of clothes. And of course she wanted Ice Cream when we got back to the table. HAHA!
After Dinner we did some major shopping that was much needed for me and yes I bought a few items for Lyla...Tommy is good at preventing complete spoiling.
Ended with some late night McDonald's and Sleepover #1.

Saturday:
While most of the family helped do yard work in Sarah's yard for Blake and Sarah's reception. Ash, Linz, and I stayed home and watched the kids and made hair pieces for Kate and Lyla's blessings.
We then ventured over to the American Fork pool and had such a great time.

Sunday:
CRAZIEST MORNING EVER... It was such  great timing for Rob and Linz to be in town because Bryan and Ashlee were blessing their sweet new baby... Kate.
I was in charge of a salad for after the blessing. I was rushing to get it finished and yelling at Tommy to get up. The poor kid was SOOO tired that he would respond to me and then fall right back asleep. Needless to say we were running late...that is an understatement. We left our house at 8:50, their house is 20 mins away. We were going to miss the blessing (and yes I was crying on the drive)...However, by the biggest tender mercy ever, we had green lights all the way, Tommy didn't get pulled over while speeding, the ward had A LOT of announcements and the longest opening prayer in the history of prayers. We ran into the chapel and as soon as we sat down everybody got up for the blessing...CHRISTMAS MIRACLE!!!
This is sweet Kate...who I am totally obsessed with. I know that she and Lyla are going to best cousins just like I was with my cousin Liz.
The blessing was perfect and so is she!
Sunday night was probably my favorite event of the whole weekend.
We had a BBQ with the family, played a new game that my dad loves (If Gene wants to play a game it's a miracle and therefore his choice...ha), and ended the night with the BEST FIREWORK SHOW...
I love the NEW Aerial Fireworks...even if they do fall in your eyes.

Rob and Linz are so great...How did Rob get so lucky?

Funny Ava Rae... Oh she loves her some Tommy Boy! Umm... Ash are you sleeping during Fireworks???

 Prego with Tommy Boy...

Mommy Pam and Papa Gene...They are the best parents and do SO much for all of us!

Cute Bry and Ash with Lilybeans... they are new parents for the 4th time...WAHOO!

Just me with a couple of PYRO'S

These two sure know how to put on a FIREWORK SHOW...Tommy was real excited.

Jace, Me, Zo Zo, and the new engaged couple Blakee and Sarah

Oh you know just Ava and Cole hiding inside from the LOUD FIREWORKS!!! haha love this photo. We missed having Chad and Tiff and their kids with us!

But a Great Night... then Sleepover #2.

Monday:
The ACTUAL 4th of July!
My parents neighborhood had a parade for all the kids and then a breakfast.
Zoie and Ava took turns driving the John Deere Tractor...And Zo showed some serious driving skills!

Why don't you guys live closer???

After Breakfast we headed to Marty and Kim's for a swim party and BBQ.

After Swimming we headed up to Bountiful for my Grandma Erickson's Annual 4th of July Celebrations. This includes a BBQ (yes another one) and Fireworks. However, nobody brought fireworks this year...WHAT? But Trusty Tommy Boy had some stowed in the car that he busted out to end a great 4th Weekend!
My Cute Grandma Erickson on the left...She is 93yrs old and in GREAT Health! But Don't tell her that.

Cutest Grand Babies in the WORLD. We were told that our family is due for an Ugly grand baby. So hopefully Lyla is a cute baby..haha. Tommy said he is sending her back if she isn't cute.

Zoie and Elle are cousins but could be TWINS! So cute...Seriously Look at all these Redhead Girls!

Love these cute Kids!

Yes this is the LONGEST BLOG post ever! But I just couldn't leave any of it out! Lucky to live in the USA and in Utah and to have such an Amazing Erickson and McNeilis family in our lives!

Role Reversal...

I am lucky enough to be a teacher for the Mia Maids in our ward. I have a fun and very diverse group of girls that I am over. I often feel very humbled in my calling and sometimes feel as if what I am teaching goes in one ear and out the other. I mean they are 14-15 yr. olds, so I don't blame them.
Once a month I get to ask one of my Mia Maids to teach the lesson, which I enjoy for a number of reasons: I get a week off of teaching, the girls get a different teacher besides me, they learn so much when they teach, I get to hear their testimonies, and especially because I get to have a mother like proud moment watching them grow up.
This past Sunday was a fun role reversal. My cute Mia Maid Kelsey Brown taught a great lesson on Obedience. The best part was that the people she taught were: the 1st counselor, Ann Blad, Kelsey's mom Jenny Brown, Kelsey's Mimi(grandma), and myself. There was not another Young Woman in class! Pretty funny. Great Job Kels!! I just love this girl...

Glucose for Breakfast...

Today I had my 26 week Dr.'s appointment and just thought it was going to be the usual...pee in a cup, check your blood pressure, step on the scale and try not to cry, wait for the Dr. to talk to you for a min, listen to the baby's heart beat, and then reschedule for 4 weeks out for my next appointment.

Well, much to my surprise when I arrived this morning they asked me if I was ready for my glucose test. I told them I had no idea that the test was today. They had forgotten to tell me about the test, but it was okay because I hadn't eaten breakfast because eating before 10:00am makes me sick. So, I went ahead and enjoyed the Breakfast of Champions...10 ounces of pure lemon lime Glucose.
I had heard mixed reviews about this lovely little drink. Some people said it wasn't too bad and it tasted like a flat sprite. Some other people told me that it was just out right awful and worth gagging over.  If anyone knows me well they know that I struggle drinking any kind of liquid medicine and have my whole life. So I was expecting the worst just to be prepared. But lucky for me it was just like a flat sprite compared to other things that I have had to drink for medical purposes...Another story another day!
But I happy to report that I chugged the drink in two swallows and I survived the hour long ordeal with flying colors and hopefully I don't have Gestational Diabetes.
Oh and for those who care...I will post a baby bump picture soon.

Draper Rodeo...

Draper always puts on a GREAT rodeo! Tommy and I went two years ago with some friends and during the Bull riding one of the bull's jumped the fence and smashed some metal stands. It was very entertaining to say the least...(nobody was hurt during the ordeal.)
But we were invited to go this year by our good friends the Handley's and we were just hoping for another exciting event with the bull's.
Todd and Emilee Handley invited us to their house before for a BBQ. We were in charge of bringing the chips & dip and the drink. Tommy had his heart set on a favorite of ours...

AVACADO & POMEGRANATE SALSA

Here is the yummy recipe for those of you interested...
1 pomegranate
4 avocados
2 tomatoes
Juice from 1 lemon
1/2 Tbs coriander
1 tps cayenne pepper
1 Tbs kosher salt
*Enjoy with a bag of fritos...for some reason it tastes better with them.

Anyway...The reason I share this is because Tommy and I were rushing home from swimming at Marty and Kim's pool and Tommy told me he wanted to make the dip and I could go shower and get ready for the Rodeo. I came downstairs after getting ready to a very panicked husband. If you see in the instructions it says 1 Teaspoon of cayenne pepper...Tommy thought it said 1 Tablespoon..OOPS!! He was scraping out all that he could and luckily the pepper was mostly on the tomatoes. He was ready to throw it away and be done with it, but don't worry he saved it by adding some lemon juice and more tomato and TADA it was fixed and it tasted FANTASTIC! Great Job Tommy Boy!

After the dip ordeal we headed up to the Handley's for a BBQ and then off to the Rodeo.
We were lucky because the Handley's live just above the Rodeo grounds and so parking was easy as well as finding a seat because they had saved us seats that morning..WAHOO!
We had perfect seats...And Fun company...
Tommy Boy and LJ
Boston and his cute date that had just torn her achilles tendon and boston carried her everywhere.
Em with Savannah and Sheffner...Savannah NO BOYFRIENDS!
 Me with cute Emilee
Todd and Tommy...They are so funny around each other...we tease them about being married to one another.
And our Friend Boston...Fanny pack and all!

We had such a great time and it just got Tommy and I really excited to travel to Florida with the Handley's in 1 week!
Oh and p.s. there was no crazy bull that jumped over the fence but to liven things up there was a Bull named Taboo that refused to get back into the coral...Tommy was rooting for him and even started a chant for Taboo that our entire section joined in with... haha love that Tommy boy!
